Description
Borgetto (Sicilian: Lu Burgettu) is a small mountain town near the province of Palermo in Sicily. As of 2007 Borgetto had an estimated population of 6,875.
History
Borgetto was founded in the 9th century by Arabs. The word Borgetto comes from the Arabic word "Burj" which means tower. Borgetto literally means "small tower" in Arabic. Borgetto's hilly surroundings served as excellent locations for the Arab watchtowers.
