Petralia Sottana (Sicilian: Pitralìa Suttana) is a town and commune in the Province of Palermo, in the island of Sicily, Italy.
Geography
The Madonie Mountains cover the commune. It includes the "Fractions" (frazioni) Piano Battaglia, Landro, Recattivo and Tudia.
The commune is on the border between the provinces of Palermo and Caltanissetta (CL). It is bounded by the communes of Alimena, Blufi, Caltanissetta (CL), Castelbuono, Castellana Sicula, Geraci Siculo, Isnello, Marianopoli (CL), Petralia Soprana, Polizzi Generosa, Resuttano (CL), Santa Caterina Villarmosa (CL), Villalba (CL).
Coat of arms
The coat of arms includes a flamingo pink to rose to rosy white with three lillies and a golden edge. The colour ranges from ocean blue to sky blue to light snow-like blue to white reading Lilium Petrae. The crown on the top is shaped with lilly-leaf and on top and peach circles on the bottom of the crown.
