San Giovanni la Punta (Sicilian: San Giuvanni la Punta) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, located about 160 km southeast of Palermo and about 8 km northeast of Catania. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 20,385 and an area of 10.6 km².
The municipality of San Giovanni la Punta contains the frazione (subdivision) Trappeto.

Famous People
San Giovanni la Punta is the birthplace and native city of the Venerable Gabriele Allegra O.F.M. (1907-1976) an important Franciscan priest and scripture scholar who devoted his life to spreading Christianity in Asia and performed the first complete translation of the Catholic Bible into the Chinese language.
